Hamas ready for ceasefire based on Biden proposal without new conditions

Hamas discusses developments in Gaza with officials from Qatar and Egypt..and stresses that the management of the Gaza Strip is an internal Palestinian affair

Hamas said in a statement that its negotiating delegation met with Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Egyptian intelligence chief Abbas Kamel in the Qatari capital, Doha, on Wednesday.

It added that developments in the Palestinian issue and the situation in the Gaza Strip were reviewed.

Hamas extended its readiness for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip based on the previous proposal presented by US President Joe Biden "without accepting new conditions from any party."

The Hamas delegation stressed, according to the statement, the movement's rejection of "any projects related to the post-war phase." It stressed that "managing the Gaza Strip is an internal Palestinian affair that is agreed upon with an agreed-upon Palestinian vision."

The Hamas delegation also welcomed "conducting a comprehensive national dialogue with all Palestinian factions and forces to agree on a national vision to confront the repercussions of the current phase and unify the national arena," according to the statement.

At the end of last May, Biden said in a speech from the White House that "Israel presented a comprehensive proposal regarding a ceasefire and the release of all detainees, consisting of 3 stages, the first of which includes a comprehensive and complete ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from all populated areas in Gaza, and the release of a number of detainees."

With the mediation of Egypt and Qatar, and the support of the United States, Israel and Hamas have been holding indirect negotiations for months, faltering, to reach an agreement to cease fire in Gaza and exchange prisoners.

The indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas have reached a critical stage, due to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s insistence on continuing the war on the Strip, and his adherence to the Philadelphi “Salah al-Din” and Netzarim axes in the south and center of the Strip, while Hamas demands a complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and the return of the displaced without restrictions.
