Following the storm of resignations that Ukraine has witnessed over the past hours, the last of which was the resignation of Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba, the Ukrainian parliament began voting on dismissing the entire government.

While some representatives revealed that the council failed in the first round of voting on dismissing Minister of Public Property Vitaly Koval, according to Reuters.

The Foreign Minister had also submitted his resignation earlier today, Wednesday, according to what Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk confirmed.

6 politicians resign
This came after at least six Ukrainian politicians, including ministers, resigned, and a presidential advisor was dismissed, on Tuesday night, on the eve of a major cabinet reshuffle, according to the ruling party.

The most prominent of those who resigned yesterday evening were the ministers of strategic industries, justice and environment.

President Volodymyr Zelensky issued a decree dismissing Deputy Prime Minister Rostyslav Shurma, who is considered one of his top aides.

Meanwhile, David Arakhamia, head of the ruling party's parliamentary bloc, announced in a post on Telegram that "a major government reshuffle will take place this week," adding that more than 50% of government members will be changed.

A writer added: "Tomorrow (Wednesday) will be a day of dismissals, and the next day a day of appointments."

It is noteworthy that Zelensky is trying through this step to boost confidence in his team, at a time when the country is facing many challenges, including daily Russian bombing.

It also aims to take steps towards joining the European Union, according to Al Arabiya/Al Hadath correspondent.

Since the beginning of the war in February 2022, Zelensky has made several ministerial changes, including dismissing the Minister of Defense last September (2023) after corruption scandals and replacing the Chief of Staff of the Army after setbacks suffered by the armed forces on the battlefield.

It is worth noting that Zelensky himself, whose first presidential term began in 2019, ended last May (2024), but he remains in office under martial law in effect since the start of the Russian invasion.
