Revolutionary Guards: We will take revenge on Israel in a different way this time

Despite the passage of more than a month since the assassination of the head of the political bureau of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran, the Iranian authorities are still threatening a decisive response to Israel. In a new old position of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, its commander-in-chief, Hossein Salami, confirmed that "the nightmare of the inevitable Iranian response shakes Israel day and night."

He also considered that the rulers and leaders of Israel are unable to "continue their political lives," adding that they have lost their mental balance and have become confused, waiting for death at any moment, according to his description.

Different response

He stressed that "the Israelis will taste the bitter taste of revenge... and the response will definitely be different," without specifying how or when, according to local media. He added, "The usurping Zionist regime and its allies should not think that they will strike and run away, but they must realize that they will receive blows and will not be able to escape, and they will receive great lessons and learn not to play with the lion's tail."

It may take long

The Revolutionary Guards, as well as the army and other Iranian officials, had previously confirmed that the retaliatory response from Israel could be prolonged, without specifying the period.

They also hinted that the response could be surprising and unexpected in terms of targets or method.

On the morning of the assassination of the head of the Hamas political bureau in the heart of Tehran, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei announced that his country would take revenge on its guest who was assassinated on its soil in a painful manner.

Later, there were confirmations that the response was inevitable, but it would be precise, thoughtful and calculated.

While American officials expected that Tehran would postpone its response to Tel Aviv in order to give a chance to the ceasefire negotiations in the Gaza Strip, which are still ongoing through international and regional mediators (Egypt, Qatar and the United States) despite the difficulties and obstacles.

A senior official in the US administration also confirmed last month (August) that his country had warned the Iranian side against launching a major missile attack against Israel "because the consequences could be very disastrous, especially for Iran."

It is noteworthy that since the assassination of Haniyeh on July 31, tensions in the region have escalated to an unprecedented level, and both Israel and Iran have been mobilized militarily, especially since the assassination of the Hamas leader came a few hours after the killing of the senior Hezbollah leader Fouad Shukr in the southern suburb of Beirut, the stronghold of the Iranian-backed party.
