Social media in Egypt has been abuzz in the past few hours with a video of the moment a young man saw his bride in a wedding dress in Kafr El-Dawar, Beheira Governorate, where the young woman appeared to be rejecting as if she did not want to get married.

"The Sad Bride"

In the details, the groom appeared in the video entering the beauty salon with his bride and seeing her in her wedding dress for the first time, while the bride appeared sad and "disgusted" towards him, as if the marriage was against her will.

The bride's rejection was also evident in her looks, as she did not direct her eyes directly to her groom, but rather turned her face away from him in the other direction. He also lifted his hand from her shoulder during the filming.

Suit and roses

The makeup artist who attended the event explained in press statements that the bride was surprised that her groom was not wearing a wedding suit as is customary, and was shocked that he did not bring flowers to her when she was received.

For his part, the groom, Muhammad Fayez Al-Mahlawi (27 years old), who works as a traveling fruit seller, confirmed that he was surprised by the video and its trending, after his friend told him about the spread of comments and criticism against him on various social media sites.

Scandal... and "cutting bread"

He added that he did not imagine the video would spread in this way, and the massive attack that followed against him, considering that the clip caused his "livelihood to be cut off" and "his home to be destroyed" in his village, to the point that he no longer leaves the house, according to local media. He said, "I cannot look my father and uncle in the eyes from shame and disgrace." He also added that he was unable to buy a suit for his wedding due to his limited financial means, even the ring he bought for himself is not silver but "fake", as he put it.

In addition, the groom affirmed that he does not understand the affairs of the communication sites and does not use them, stressing that he is a humble person from a rural area who does not care about these matters, but he was nevertheless suffered a difficult situation that affected all aspects of his life.
